Day two of the annual Stars and Stripes on the River event kicked off Friday afternoon.
Visitors can expect food, drinks, a live band, activities and a fireworks display which began at 9:45PM. All of the funds raised support local non profit organizations. One local group in particular, Christ's Table, will be selling Lemon Shake Ups to raise money for the hungry in Muskingum County.
Keely Warder, Executive Director of Christ's Table says, "Well we're enjoying the wonderful weather this year and we're selling lemon shake ups for Christs Table. Encourage people to come down, buy a Lemon Shake Up. We've got larges for $5 and smalls for $3 and all of the proceeds will go here to feed the hungry in Muskingum County."
Many people take part in this event each year, and when asked what they enjoyed most about the patriotic celebration, we got a variety of different responses.
"Seeing the people. Having fun with the people. Celebrating the Fourth, our Independence Day."
"The food has been really good. We had some ribeye steak on a sandwhich, my son and husband are running around eating the different snacks so its been pretty good."
"It's just a good family atmosphere. You know theres something for everyone. The kids the adults. We love watching the water. I love sitting by the river."
"Just hanging out with my friends and the fireworks and the bands."
This event is free to the public and runs until 11:15 Friday.
