Area residents got to end their Fourth of July weekend with a patriotic concert at Zanes Landing this evening.
The musical entertainment was put on by the Zanesville Memorial Concert Band. The group has been together 91 years, and according to Jeff Roquemore, Artistic Director of the band said this concert has been going on since the group was formed.
"This is probably our 91st July Fourth kind of weekend concert. We always have a very strong patriotic theme. We do have a tribute to Veterans of the Armed Forces. We also have some kind of patriotic music and some things that talk about the United States."
The next concert will be held on July 20. If the sun shines it will be at Zanes Landing, and if rainy, the concert will be held in Secrest Auditorium. Roquemore says the next concert will be themed, "Christmas in July."
Roquemore said, "We're going to have a lot of Christmas music and some other holiday music as well. Our final concert is August 3. Every year for the past six years our final concert has involved and Ohio born and bred composer. So he's going to be here. His name is Roger Siche."
The concert went until about 8:30PM this evening. All are free for the Zanesville community to enjoy.
