The Southeast Ohio 2-1-1 call center released their monthly report Tuesday.
The call center is a free service open 24-7 to help callers with any informational questions they might have.
"If you have a question about something that you need, we can point you in the right direction," said Audrey Foster, Resource Development Director for the United Way. "So I would really say it's a very open door."
The call center is a service of the United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan counties. They average just over 1,000 calls each month on a wide range of topics. Over 40 percent of calls from June of this year dealt with inquiries regarding food, hot meal programs, or personal items.
"Seeing that there is a need in our community for emergency food, we've been approached by Mid-Ohio to have a focus group and a community conversation around the face of hunger in Muskingum County," Foster said. "So we're going to be having those community conversations on our campaign kickoff week."
The call center has a large database of information used to refer callers to various organizations who may be able to help them with their needs. If you have any questions or need help accessing a human services or community service program, Foster said getting answers is as simple as dialing 2-1-1.
