Have you ever wondered about the history of the Y Bridge? Saturday, July 19 you have the opportunity to learn more.

The event is being held at 2PM at the John McIntire Library Auditorium. Director of Museums for the Pioneer and Historical Society of Muskingum County, Jim Geyer says that they are very honored have David Simmons as a speaker for Saturday's event.

Geyer said, "We are really honored to have David Simmons as our speaker tomorrow for the program. He is the President of the Ohio Historic Bridge Association and the Senior Editor of Timeline Magazine for the Ohio History Connection."

The event is in celebration of the Y Bridge's Bicentennial Anniversary.  Geyer says that the Y Bridge is a symbol of the community, and to learn about its history is an important thing to do.

Geyer explained, "The Y Bridge is kind of a symbol of Zanesville. Zanesville is known as the Y Bridge City. It is a landmark that identifies us and brings us together as a community. The original Y Bridge was built to bring together four separate communities and today it kind of unifies the community as we know it today here in Zanesville."

The Y Bridge Bicentennial Exhibit will also be on display from 1PM to 4PM in addition to the talk. If you are unable to make the event, you can visit the website: www.muskingumhistory.org
