The 47th  Christy Fine Arts and Craft Festival  took place in the grove Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The show featured many forms of art from painting to photography as well as applied art and fine art. Art Guild member LaRaine Barton said this show illuminates the local talent.

"Esspecially in the surrounding area, we have quite a large art community here in Morgan County, and I think it makes people aware that we have a lot of very fine talented local artists of all ages and of all levels and in different mediums," said Barton.

The show is the only one that features an original Harold Christy piece. Christy was a Morgan County townsperson, and his piece will be auctioned off as a way to raise money that will go back into the community. The show also features youth, amature and professional art for onlookers to enjoy. The youngest member of the Art Guild, Owen Morrow, said it's important to keep supporting the art community.

"When they stop supporting there's not going to be anything left of it, and this might not happen anymore if there's nobody else coming," said Morrow.

The event will continue tomorrow from noon until 5:00 p.m. and they will judge applied and fine arts as well as photography at 4:30 p.m. The event is an annual one, so if you missed the fun this year you can look forward to it in the coming years.
