Brighton Blvd. House Fire

A house fire at 317 Brighton Boulevard broke out this evening.

The Zanesville Fire Department and Genesis EMS responded at approximately 9PM. A mother and her 7 year old daughter were home at the time, both escaped unharmed. According to Assistant Chief Bob Long of the Zaneville Fire Department, the fire originated in a bedroom closet, causing mainly smoke damage to clothing and other things within the room. It took approximately 15 minutes to contain. Long estimated the damage at $20,000. The homeowner did not have insurance. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
