Fair Recap

People came in droves to the 168th Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair, but now the fairgrounds are virtually empty.

You can no longer smell food cooking up on the grill or hear kids screaming as rides whip back and forth but, the fairgrounds aren't completely empty either. Bill Agin , Vice President and Grounds Chairman for the Muskingum County Agricultural Society was helping to clean out project stalls in the horticulture building .

"Loading up, moving trailers, getting trucks. Its been a busy day but that's what the fair is all about."

On the other side of the fairgrounds Robert Newcomer revved up the engine on his antique tractor to head home. Telling us why he displayed his equipment at the fair this year.

'We just like to make sure everybody realizes how agriculture used to be done years ago, and how, you know its changed a little bit and they can compare what the tractors looked like back then verses what they are today," said Newcomer.

The barns looked like a ghost town compared to earlier in the week. Ron Kreis was picking up the last of his supplies left over from this years festivities. His two daughters, both in 4-H clubs, showed steers and pigs this year. Kreis said he was pleasantly surprised with all the support the community showed for the 4-Hers.

"The sale night was extremely well, for Muskingum County to have that much support, plus everybody around the local area. It blows my mind for what they are willing to donate and put back into their 4-H projects, college funds, whatever they want to do with it, it just amazes me."

He explained that any bid over market price is a gift to the 4-H kids, and he can't wait till next years fair.

The stalls may be empty and the excitement over, but it's only a year away till the 169th Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair.
