Local schools aren't the only ones gearing up for the new school year. The Muskingum Recreation Center is ready to start the fall season as well.
Three special events will take place in the month of September. The first is an open house on the seventh to show people around the building. The Health and Special Population Coordinator Brooke Smith said the fall is a good time to reboost your workout.
"With school back in session and parents having a little more time it's a great time to start new, healthy habbits and get back in the swing of making fitness a priority," Smith said.
More time and cold weather approaching fast makes the fall a great time to start a new membership or renew old ones. Along with the open house all newly signed year long contracts will receive the first month free. Then on September 13 the rec will be having a fall fit fest.
"We will have some field events in the morning and then hoping everybody will join us to watch the Ohio State Kent State game on the big screen in our gymnasium, Smith said.
There is a $100 initiation fee, but if you sign up in September that fee will be waived.
