The Muskingum County Bureau of Motor Vehicles made a move to the south end of town a little over a year and half ago, and today they celebrated the new location.

The bureau hosted an open house that began this morning and ran until 5:00 p.m.  Deputy Registrar Kristine Smith said the open house was held to welcome in the community to this location and to help inform those who may not have recently visited the BMV that they have moved.

"We're at 2328 June Parkway, Zanesville, Ohio," Smith said.  "We're over in the South Zanesville area now, so we're kind of centrally located so a lot of people from McConnelsville and Roseville and some of those areas can get to us a little closer now, too."

Tom Haller, Deputy Director of Field Operations for the BMV, was also on hand to congratulate Muskingum County on the facility and to thank the staff for helping make Ohio's BMV among the best in the nation.

"The delivery system that Ohio provides for the drivers license and vehicle registration is one of the best in the United States and one of the most cost effective," Haller said.  "In a recent survey provided by a non-government agency, they voted Ohio number one in the nation for customer service."

Several community members attended the open house as well as local law enforcement and Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton.
