A motorcyclist was transported to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after being struck from behind by a utility truck.
Lt. Bill Shaw with the Zanesville Police Department said the motorcycle rider was heading northbound on Brighton Boulevard around 2:00 p.m. when he stopped at a red traffic light at the intersection of Ridge Avenue. Shaw said the truck traveling behind him struck the bike, knocking off the rider. The truck then ran over the rider before coming to a stop. The truck's driver claims he lost his brakes, and Shaw said they did find leaking brake fluid from the truck at the scene. The truck will be impounded for further investigation. The rider, who Shaw said was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with severe injuries. No other information is available at this time.
