Election boards across the country are adding up the costs for what was likely the most expensive election in state and federal history.

According to Ohio law, not all registered sex offenders have to notify their neighbors.

"Some of them register and some don't have to. The ones that do have to, register once a year for 20 years," says Detective Todd Mahle.

That means you could have a sex offender living right next door and not even know it. So how will you know if your kids are safe?

In March of 2004, the first crystal meth lab bust was conducted in Muskingum County.

On Monday, the man charged with housing this meth lab appeared in court and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Zanesville’s city council approved an updated contract for the police force.

Police Chief Eric Lambes attended tonight’s meeting to find out if council would approve this emergency ordinance.

“Tonight council passed a 3 year contract with the captains union we just completed negotiations with city of Zanesville captain’s union and came to a relative easy agreement,” says Lambes.

When it comes to flu vaccines, nursing homes in Ohio are in desperate need.

Most of Ohio's 800 nursing homes have not seen any flu vaccine this season, but in Muskingum County, it's a different story. Rambo Health Care has provided 12 nursing homes and the nursing home employees with the flu shot. They also provide shots for all eligible Genesis Health Care workers.

The Muskingum County Commissioners were busy collecting bids today for the construction of a pump station.

The station was installed several years ago and now needs to be replaced.

Muskingum County Commissioner Don Madden says that is why they needed to open up bids.

“The way the process normally would work we’ll take all the bid packets and give those to the engineer that designed the project,” says Madden.

Dorothy Montgomery is very excited to continue serving the Muskingum County community as your commissioner and says there are a lot of things to be thankful for.

“We’re extremely blessed to have a medical center, a shopping center a lot of things in our favor,” says Montgomery.

When asked about what she wants to change, Montgomery answered “nothing.”

Would you want to know if your next door neighbor was a sex offender?

One thing many people may not know is that there are three classifications of sex offenders, but not all offenders have to notify their neighbors.

In Muskingum County, 93 registered sex offenders live in the area. Detective Todd Mahle says the problem is gettting worse.
