The Muskingum County sheriff’s office says no charges are being filed after bullets shattered windows in two homes in South Zanesville last week. Deputies believe the rounds were stray bullets from a shooting range that sits atop a hill eight-tenths of a mile south of the village. But owner of the Briar Rabbit Shooting Range isn’t convinced the bullets came from his place. Even so, he says he’ll add 12 feet of dirt to a 15-foot earthen backstop to avert the possibility of stray shots....

The Perry County Sheriff’s Department continues to search for two missing juveniles. 17-year-old Jeremy Borden and 16-year-old Reese Hooper, Jr. have been missing since around noon Wednesday afternoon. According to dispatchers, the two males escaped wearing blue sweatshirts and sweat pants. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 740-342-4123.

Young professionals may be singing a happy tune after stopping in at the area’s 7th Annual Muskingum County Sophomore Career Expo. It’s a chance for local businesses to attract workers from right here in Muskingum County. Organizers say the focus on the sophomores is because this is the year when students really need to determine the career path they wish to pursue, and schedule courses around that goal.

Drenching rains and floods helped dampen the number of West Nile virus cases in Ohio this year. Across the state, the number of people with probable and confirmed cases of West Nile virus dropped dramatically, from 441 a year ago to 68 this year. Deaths attributed to the virus dropped as well...from 31 to four. The biggest difference between the last two years has been the weather. The 1st annual Rocktoberfest in Muskingum County is right around the corner. The planning committee met today to discuss the event for one last time. Governor Bob Taft today announced a major grant to help a project in Muskingum County. The Governor says 290,000 dollars is headed to the Muskingum Valley Park District for the Muskingum Recreational Trail. A local fire department is getting a financial boost from the federal government. Congressman Bob Ney says that the Perry Township Volunteer Firefighters are going to receive just over 81,000 dollars as part of a nationwide assistance to firefighters grant. There are reports today of an overturned tanker truck in Fairfield County. The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office received reports of a tanker truck propane spill last night around 9:30 at the intersection of State Route 188 and State Route 256 in Walnut Township. The Perry County Sheriff’s Department is searching for two escaped juveniles Wednesday evening.
