School is back in session and that means school buses returning to the roads. The Zanesville police department reminds people to take extra caution around the big yellow buses, especially when children are getting off. Sgt. Bob McDonald said drivers in the opposite direction of buses need to pay attention as well as those following it. McDonald said when you see the flashing lights, just stop. Besides bringing a Super-Center to South Zanesville, the new Wal-Mart may bring lower gas prices. Murphy Gas USA leases land from the new Wal-Mart and opened in conjunction with them on August 20th. Many drivers around town have noticed the low gas prices at the gas station. The price per gallon today was $1.53. Manager Lynn Watson said she is starting gas prices off low to attract customers. Murphy Gas USA is not owned by Wal-Mart, but they are attracting quite a crowd to South Zanesville...

A report ranks Ohio seventh in the country in exporting guns that end up in the hands of criminals in other states. The report by Americans for Gun Safety is based on data for 2001 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Jim Kessler of Americans for Gun Safety says gun shows allow firearm sales without background checks and that those guns end up in other states. It’s a possible 36 months behind bars for a Zanesville man who admitted to setting fire to two structures. 21-year-old Russell Tanner pleaded guilty to two felony counts of arson on Monday. Tanner is charged with setting fire to two garages, one located at 718 Lexington Ave. on March 11. The other at 736 Fountain Square on March 24th. Judge Mark Fleegle has ordered a presentence investigation into the case.

It’s 11 months behind bars for a drug trafficker charged with selling crack/cocaine. Judge Mark Fleegle sentenced 21-year-old Laron Fuller on one count of trafficking. Fuller was arrested after selling to a confidential informant working with the Zanesville Police Department in March of this year. In other drug cases, 20-year-old Justin Smith of Zanesville is sentenced to three years of community control on two counts of trafficking crack/cocaine. Leroy Strickland also received three years...

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s office has released details on this week’s most wanted suspect. He is Jonathan Rollins. He's charged with receiving stolen property, misuse of credit cards and seven counts of forgery. He is described as five-feet five inches tall, 155 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. Over the past two weeks, prices at gas stations across the country have been skyrocketing. Here in Zanesville, the story is not different. Gas prices at some stations along Maple Avenue showed most charging between $1.65 and $1.70. Whatever the cost, area drivers are not happy with the added squeeze on their wallets. The Zanesville Police Department received a call shortly before 5:00 Sunday evening that two juveniles had a gun in the K-Mart parking lot on Maple Avenue. Police received a second call at around 6:00 that the two juveniles were back with the gun, this time in the Country Fair Shopping Center in front of the Big Lots store. An injury accident Sunday afternoon sent five people to the hospital. According to Lt. Shaw, the accident on Moxahala Avenue happened around 4:30 when a Jeep Cherokee driven by Jinni Johnson of Zanesville ran a red light at the intersection of Moxahala and State Route 719. A GMC pickup truck driven by Dale Harry of Zanesville hit the jeep, causing it to spin and overturn. A man is still loose after peeping over a clothing store’s changing room in Zanesville. Last night, a woman reported seeing a man looking at her as she was changing in the Maple Avenue K-Mart. Many may think of a peeping tom, but the crime is called voyeurism. Regardless of the charges, it left one woman feeling violated for merely trying on clothing. The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she screamed out loud when she saw the man looking over top of the changing area at her....
