An accident at U.S. 40 and Timber Run Road resulted in one woman with head lacerations being cut free from her car by first responders Tuesday night.

The accident was called in at about 7:30 p.m., and the woman, who authorities say is around 60-years-old, was reportedly coherent and talking to EMS staff when she was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. Trooper T. E. Davis with State Highway Patrol explains what happened.

A more permanent fix to the potholes popping up in the streets of Zanesville is on it's way.

According to Street and Sanitation Superintendent, Jeff Shook, the department is waiting for the plants that manufacture the hot mix to open. Which he said should hopefully be by the middle of next week. Until then they are continuing to fix the roads with the temporary mix.

As Ohio appears set to decide on the legality of marijuana in the near future, a recent poll done by CBS News, shows that a record high 53% of Americans feel that marijuana should be legalized.

The annual Carr Center Cake Auction has grown this year.

Executive Director of the center, Kim Hosler, said there are more than 350 cakes and incentives in this year's auction, and with just a few days to go, the number is still growing.

For the past 20 years, the last week of April has been dedicated as National Infant Immunization Week.

During the week, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department stresses the importance of getting infants their immunization shots. According to the Centers for Disease Control, immunization is a shared responsibility. Immunization Coordinator at ZMCHD, Jamie Heinzman, explains.

The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office said they've made an arrest in connection to a shooting incident, drugs and firearms. 

Authorities said that on Monday, April 20, officers were attempting to locate 32-year-old James Patterson on multiple warrants including trafficking in cocaine and charges in a January 8 incident where the sheriff's office stopped a vehicle in relation to someone shooting from a car on County Road 271.

The Zanesville Fire Department has announced its Wednesday hydrant flushing schedule.

It will occur  within the general area of Zane Street south to Canal Street, 9th Street to the river, Harvey Street, Underwood Street and everything West of Underwood Street (all of downtown) including all side streets.

Flushing will be from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

Residents in these areas may experience discolored water and reduced pressure.
