A trial date is set for September 22nd for a suspect accused of killing a Lancaster man. Quincy Allen of Columbia, South Carolina, is charged with killing two men at a convenience store near the North Carolina-Virginia state line last summer. Prosecutors say they have evidence linking him to the killing of store clerk, Richard Hawks of North Carolina, and Robert Roush of Lancaster. Roush stopped in the store while traveling.

The city of Zanesville is waiting for a response from the Environmental Protection Agency to continue with their plans to build the 146/60 connector road. For the past couple of years, city hall has been working dilligently on plans to build a road that will connect state route 146 to state route 60. A Youngtown police officer was shot and killed early this morning in his patrol car and the search continues for the suspect. 26-year-old patrolman Michael Hartzell was shot around 2:20 this morning across from Powers Auditorium in downtown Youngstown. He died at the hospital a short time later. Lieutenant Rod Foley says police are looking for 31-year-old Martin Louis Koliser in connection with the shooting. Foley provided no more information about the suspect.

The state has executed a man convicted of killing a friend’s wife. David Brewer’s execution was delayed about 10 minutes because the execution team had trouble fitting the shunts that would carry the chemicals to his veins into his arm. A man trying to keep warm is now police custody for criminal trespassing. Around 8:00 Monday evening the South Zanesville Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Old Mosaic Building in the Brighton area. When fire crews arrived at the scene they found wooden pallets on fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and Sheriff’s deputies arrested one individual. A man convicted of a 1985 murder is scheduled for execution tomorrow morning. Lawyers for David Brewer said today they plan to file no more appeals. State Public Defender Greg Meyers said there is no new information to bring to a court’s attention in defense of Brewer. Ohio Governor Bob Taft on Friday rejected Brewer’s request for clemency. Ohio First Lady Hope Taft is to meet with the U.S. Surgeon General today in Washington to discuss underage drinking. Taft and three other first ladies are trying to get the government to consider underage drinking one of the nation’s top health priorities. The search is on for this week’s most wanted suspect in Muskingum County. The Muskingum County sheriff’s office says the search is on for Angela Mock. Mock is charged with trafficking crack cocaine and possession of crack cocaine. Her last known address is Richard Avenue in Zanesville. She is described as having blond hair and brown eyes. She stands five-feet-six inches tall and weighs around 140 pounds. If you know of her whereabouts contact the Muskingum County sheriff’s office.
