The Zanesville Fire Department will continue its hydrant flushing program on Monday, April 27. 

Hydrants will be flushed on Pershing Road on the east side of Pine Street to Muskingum Avenue including Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority and the west of Pine Street from West Main Street to Melrose Avenue, Ridge Avenue, Perry Lane, Ayers Street, Dryden Road and Muskingum Avenue.

One woman is dead, and a man is critically injured after being hit while riding their bicycles Thursday evening.

It happened around 5:10 p.m. on State Route 60 South near Shelly and Sands. According to Sgt. Kevin Kelley of the State Highway Patrol, a van being driven by 66-year-old Marjeane B. Hammer of Blue Rock was heading north on 60 when she went off the right side of the roadway slamming into the back of the two cyclists who were also heading north.

The wait is finally over! The Carr Center Cake Auction officially kicked off Thursday.

It all started at 8:15 Thursday morning, with cakes and incentives going every fiteen minutes. Something new that was offered this year is the donor board. Kim Hosler, Executive Director of the center told us,

Tamara Brown of the Black Theater Workshop of Montreal made a visit to Zanesville.

The Muskingum Valley Red Cross is partnering with AAA Spa and Pool Services on Maple Avenue this Saturday.

A bid opening for the Avondale Sanitary Sewer Project was held at the Muskingum County Commissioners office Thursday.

Project Director of Muskingum County, Don Madden told us for these types of projects, the bids are based off of an engineers estimate. This particular project was estimated at $2.4 million. Madden told us a little bit more about the ongoing repairs.

A longtime Zanesville surgeon has died. 91-year-old Dr. Melvin Krohn died Thursday in Cleveland. He practiced Orthopedic Surgery in Zanesville from 1958 to 1995 at Orthopedic Associates. He served in the army in World War II where he was stationed in the Philippines. Calling hours are on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. service at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home. Dr Krohn will be laid to rest at Beth Abraham Jewish Cemetery in Zanesville.
