COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio education officials are starting work on a new series of tests to be administered to students starting in the upcoming school year.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Two psychologists have reached different opinions on whether a central Ohio driver is competent to stand trial for a downtown Columbus crash that led to the deaths of two pedestrians.

Terrance Trent is accused of recklessly driving his truck into a school bus that then hit two pedestrians on Dec. 12. The 62-year-old Trent has pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide charges.

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — The owner of a northwest Ohio funeral home where several bodies were found in a state of decay has been charged with abuse of a corpse.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The text of a hastily passed proposal to ban monopolies and cartels in Ohio's constitution has been delivered to the state elections chief for placement on the November ballot.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio jury has recommended that a 23-year-old man get 25 years to life in prison for the April 2013 slayings of four people at an Akron townhome.

A judge will sentence Deshanon Haywood of Akron on July 24. Jurors could have recommended a death sentence.

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A 17-year-old girl has been indicted as an adult on an aggravated murder charge in a Toledo house fire that killed a 14-year-old boy and seriously injured his 13-year-old stepbrother.
