Roberta “Bobby” Jeanne Dillon, 81, died at home on Wednesday November 4, 2009 with her family at her side. She was the wife of Clinton E. Dillon for 54 years. Mr. and Mrs. Dillon have two daughters, Janet Allison Dillon of Zanesville and Layne Anne Dillon of Columbus, Ohio.
Born April 1, 1928 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was the daughter of Lucille T. and W. Granvil Cox. She graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1945. She was a graduate of Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1949 with a B.A. in English. Mrs. Dillon did post-graduate work in Elementary Education.
Mrs. Dillon was a second and third-grade teacher at Hopewell Elementary School in the West Muskingum School District, retiring in 1988.
She belonged to the American Association of University Women and also the Cultural Interest Group of AAUW. She was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Salvation Army, the Makers’ Guild of Zanesville, and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.
Calling hours will be on Thursday November 5, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 W. Military Road Zanesville.
Graveside services will be held at 2pm on Friday in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
