Leslie “Les” Albert West, 91 of Crooksville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 3, 2009 at The New Lexington Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Les was born in San Toy, Ohio on Decemeber 15, 1917. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a veteran of The United States Army. He was a lifetime member of The American Legion.
Les is survived by a daughter Georgia Lee Davenport of Columbus, OH; step daughter Carol (John) Rose of New Lexington; granddaughter Robyn West Watkins of Columbus, OH; sister Ruth Decker of Grove City, OH, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Jackson and Rosa Ethyl Dunkle West; wife Betty West; his special companion of 30 years Lavella L. Harris; brothers George “Ed” and Chester West (infant); sisters Pearl Kesterson, Elsie West, Norma Cummings, Jackie West (infant), and Clara “Toots” Weaver.
The West family would like to thank the special nurses, nurse’s aids, and staff at The New Lexington Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Calling hours will be held on Monday December 7, 2009 from 10 am to 12 pm at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, CROOKSVILLE CHAPEL, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville. The funeral service will be held also on Monday December 7, 2009 at 12 pm with Pastor Ron Justice officiating. Burial will follow in The Mt. Horeb Cemetery.
