Samuel Richard Rickett, 68, passed away December 4, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
Sam was born in Zanesville on June 14, 1941 to Stanley Parker and Daisy Dean Brown Rickett. Sam was a member of The American Legion. Sam served his country and protected our freedom as a soldier in The United States Army during Vietnam.
Sam is survived by his loving and devoted wife Beverly Prouty Rickett of 42 years; sons Jason (Gina) Rickett of Gambier, OH and Ronn Rickett of Columbus, OH; daughter Tammy Rickett of Blacklick, OH; brother Harry “Sonny” (Frances) Rickett of AL; sisters Louise (Larry) Nauman and Betty (Jerry) Neal both of AL; grandchildren Caleb, Cora, and Ella Rickett, Diamond Young, Keyton and Samantha Smith; sisters-in-law Mary Alice Rickett of AL, and Loraine Rickett of Nashport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers John, Robert, Hiram, Stanley, and Ronald Rickett, and sisters Ruth Moye and Shirley Rickett.
Calling hours will be held on Monday December 7, 2009 from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 West Military Road, Zanesville. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 8, 2009 at 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will following in The Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors by George Selsam VFW Post 1058.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to The American Diabetic Association, Columbus Office, 471 East Broad Street, Suite 1630, Columbus, Ohio 43215 or to The Vietnam Veterans of America, 8605 Cameron Street, Silver Spring, MD 20910, in Sam’s name.
