OBIT FROM HILLIS & HARDWICK FUNERAL HOME:
James R. Hofer , 77 of Zanesville , died 11:38 AM Sunday, February 07, 2010 at Genesis-Good Samaritan Campus Zanesville.
He was born Wednesday, November 30, 1932 in Canton OH the son of Norman C. and Anna Hofer. He was married on Jan. 21st 1957 to Rita L. ( Cornett ) Hofer .
He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church,. Served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles. He was retired from Burnham Corporation, an avid golfer and enjoyed reading. He especially enjoyed spending time with his three grand daughters.
He is survived by his wife Rita (Cornett) Hofer of the home. A daughter Cindy (Ted) Bessey of Oakland Maryland, three granddaughters Megan (Brandon) Rohrbaugh of Keysar, West Virginia, Rachel Bessey of Greenville PA and Samantha Bessey of Oakland Maryland. A sister Donna Pirolozzi of Zanesville. A brother Bill Hofer of Stockport and a brother-in-law Don Cornett of Zanesville, Several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death were his parents.
A memorial mass will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions can be made to Genesis Hospital, St. Thomas Catholic Church or charity of choice.
