Russell A. Ross, 81, of Zanesville, died at 2:45 PM Monday February 8, 2010 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital ER.
He was born October 11, 1928 in Zanesville the son of the late Amos Earl and Ann Ethel Prosser Ross. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a cook in the US Army. Russ was former co-owner of Ross IGA, retiring in 2000. He was member of Brighten Free Methodist Church where he held several leadership positions, American Legion Post 0160, church bowling league, volunteer at Bethesda Hospital, active in the 1949ers Alumni Club, enjoyed watching Ohio State Sports, Cincinnati Bengals and Reds and Tri-Valley Biddy League sports. Russ enjoyed his visits in the morning with his buddies at Wal-Mart and at the Colony Square Mall in the afternoon. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Russ is survived by his wife of 56 years Nancy C. Reichart Ross, sons: Daniel (Holly) Ross of Zanesville and Donald (Elaine) Ross of Dresden, daughter: Deborah (Ben Hilder) Ross of Lascassas, TN, grandson: Nathan (Amber) Ross of Dresden, Justin (Amanda) Ross of Indianapolis, IN and Aaron Ross of Dresden, sister: Dorothy Briggs of Zanesville, many nieces and nephews and special friends Paul and Martha Parsons of Huntington Beach, CA.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers: Lewis and Harold Ross.
Visitation will be 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 Thursday February 11, 2010 at Bryan & Snider Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave. where funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Friday February 12, 2010 with Pastor Steve Neville officiating. Committal service will follow at Memorial Park.
