Ruth Marie Phillips, 82, of Zanesville, formerly of Norwich, and also resided briefly at the Cedar Hill Apartments, went home to be with the Lord at 3:32 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Genesis Hospice–Morrison House. Ruth was born August 30, 1927, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Ralph M. and Hannah E. Swartz Scott. Ruth retired in 1990 after 25 years of service as an assembly worker for March Electric in Cambridge, Ohio. She was a Methodist by faith. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed playing cards with her sisters. Her family was her greatest joy.
Surviving are five sons, Richard G. (Debbie) Phillips Jr. of Huber Heights, Ohio, Carlos O. (Vickie) Phillips of Zanesville, Ronald L. (Donna) Phillips of Waterford, Ohio, Allan K. (Mary Ann) Phillips of Crooksville, and Jerry J. Phillips of Norwich; eight grandchildren, David, Jenny, Jayson, Schawn, Terry, Rachael, Aaron, and Matt with the grandsons serving as pallbearers; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ida (Gordon) Lane of Philo, Lillian (Cecil) Dennis of South Zanesville, Edna Samson of South Zanesville and Saundra (Bill) Hensley of Fultonham; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parent, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richards G. Phillips Sr., who died October 11, 2009; a son, Russell Phillips; and a brother, John Scott.
Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Stovertown Cemetery, Stovetown, Ohio.

Ruth loved everyone and never found anyone she didn’t love. She touched many hearts on her journey thru life. She was like an angel to many. Her greatest gift was to give than receive. She was a loving wife and mother.
