Edward “Ed” Hugh Jones Sr. 87 of Dresden, Ohio passed away at 10:15 AM Monday June 21, 2010 at his residence. He was born September 22, 1922 in Newark, Ohio the son of the late Arthur H. and Blanche Billman Jones.
He was retired from the Longaberger Company, he and his wife owned and operated Jones Power Sales for many years in Zanesville. He was a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church and was a Lay Minister; he was also a member of F. & A.M. #103 for over 50 years, a life member of Valley of Cambridge and was a member of the DAV and VFW. He served our country and protected our freedom by serving in WWII as a member of the United States Army while serving in the South Pacific. For his service he was inducted into the Muskingum County War Veterans Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his loving wife; Virginia Hitchcock Jones whom he married on December 14, 1943. A son Edward H. (Janice) Jones of Zanesville, a daughter Robyn Jones of the home,a brother Robert E. Lee Jones of Salisbury,NC and a sister Blanche Gill of Philo, a grandson Tye (Stephanie) Jones of Zanesville and two step-grandsons Robert and Rick Knowlden of Zanesville and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers: John, Arthur, and Franklin, Sisters Elizabeth Noel and Helen Garver and 3 infant brothers.
No calling hours or services will be observed. A caring cremation has taken place.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Dresden United Methodist Church P.O. Box 111 Dresden, Ohio 43821 or to the Dresden Fire or Police Department.
