Jackie Lee Strong Sr. 65 of Hopewell passed away on Tuesday June 22, 2010 at his home. He was born in Hazard, KY to the late Herbert and Clara Noble Strong on March 23, 1945. He was employed by A K Steel for 37 years. He was West Muskingum’s biggest fan and the leader of the “hard hat crew”. Jackie had coached little league baseball and football. He served our country and protected our freedom by serving in the United States Army. The greatest joys in his life were his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Judy Reed Strong of Hopewell, a son Jack Strong Jr. of Hopewell, a daughter Renea (Brian) Starner of Hopewell, a sister Lillie Morris of Zanesville and five grandchildren: Jacob, Nicole, Dalton Strong, Briar Starner, and M’Ber Starner, his special cat Onyx. He leaves behind many many friends.
In addition to his parents, and a loving step dad Joseph Meredith, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law J Wise (Erline) Strong, a granddaughter M’Kenzi Starner, and a brother-in-law Chester Morris.
Jack’s biggest goal was to help his grandson attend college, the family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Jacob Strong College Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 12 Noon with services at 12 Noon on Saturday June 26, 2010 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 W. Military Road Zanesville, Ohio with Pastor Linda Bell officiating. The George Selsam VFW Post 1058 will be conducting full military honors at funeral Home.
