Vernon C. Trout, 79, of Duncan Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at 4:25 pm June 27, 2010, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House.
Vernon was born December 20, 1930 the son of Virginia E. (Moore) Trout formerly of Duncan Falls and the late Harold E. Trout. Vernon retired after 33 years at the Ohio Ferro Alloy where he was the Maintenance Supervisor, and he retired after 13 years with the Ohio Coal Company where he was a Master Electrician having worked on the Big Muskie, he was a past Fire Chief and had over 20 years service with the Wayne Township Fire Department, a past Commander of the American Legion Post #246, past President of the Duncan Falls Association, a former member of the Duncan Falls United Methodist Church, a member of the Central Trinity United Methodist Church and he served his country in the US Navy During the Korean Conflict.
Vernon was an avid wood worker, a skilled electrician, carpenter and plumber, he was well known for his friendly smile and his quick humor. Vernon had great pride in both his family and his work.
Vernon is survived by his wife Evelyn (Fuller) Trout whom he married May 20, 1951; his daughters Melinda (Mike) Walter of Marion and Melissa (Lenard) Adams of Chillicothe and his son Douglas (Jennifer) Trout of Cincinnati; his grandchildren Abbey (Matthew) Beech, Lindsey (Jon) Ferguson, Sam Walter, Stacey Saunders and her friend Mindy Vance, Christin (Matthew) Downs and Aubrie Trout; his step grandchildren Angie (Marty) Hart, Brenda Leatherwood, Teresa (Richard) Shoemaker and Darian Colley; his great grandchildren Madison, Matthew and Megan Downs and Carter and Cori Ferguson and 6 step-great Grandchildren; his brothers Bill (Sarah) Trout of Duncan Falls, Richard (Wava) Trout of Duncan Falls and his special K-9 companion Sadie.
In addition to his father he is preceded in death by an infant brother.
Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, June 30, at the Thompson-Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday with Rev. Gayle Colvin and Rev Chuck Titko officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
