John Eugene Graves, 86 of Zanesville passed away on Tuesday July 27, 2010 at Willow Haven Nursing Home.
John was born in Dresden, Ohio on February 6, 1924 to the late Walter and Nellie Baum Graves. John was formerly employed by Burnham and Timpkins, he was also the owner of Pinecrest Motors for many years and enjoyed hunting and fishing. John served our country and protected our freedom by serving in the US Army during WWII.
He is survived by his loving wife Emma Mary Matis Graves of the home, three sons Richard (Karen) Graves , Daniel Graves, and Larry Graves all of Zanesville, two daughters Rozanne Collins and Linda (Wayne) Knowlden both of Zanesville. 13 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, and Four Great- Great Grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Debora Ankrum, four brothers Lester, Orville, Walter “Jack”, and Bob Graves, a sister Floretta “Fritzie” McGee.
Calling hours will be from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Thursday July 29 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday in The Snouffer Chapel with Dr. E. Wayne Stout officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Cemetery with full Military honors by George Selsam VFW Post 1058.
