HILLIS & HARDWICK FUNERAL HOME OBIT:
Jacob S. Wengerd, 71 of 7711 Ridgeview Lane, Zanesville went to be with the Lord at 8:00 PM Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville following a two month battle with cancer.
He was born Monday, October 31, 1938 in Wilmot, OH the son of Simon J. and Lovina (Wengerd) Wengerd. He was married on Tuesday, October 27, 1959 to Fannie E. ( Hochstetler ) Wengerd .
He founded Wengerd Seamless Spouting in 1980 and was greatly loved and appreciated by family and friends. He was a faithful member of the Canaan Mennonite Church and accepted Christ in his youth.
Survived by his wife of almost 51 years, a daughter Anna (Nelson) Miller and a son Steve (Lola) Wengerd both of Zanesville, eight grandchildren Jeffrey (Rhonda) Miller of Belen, New Mexico, James Miller, Beth Anne Miller; Sherilyn, Shawn, Phyllis, Brian and Kendra Wengerd all of Zanesville, and three great grandchildren. Four brothers Mose (Katie) Wengerd of Dundee, Adrian (Amanda) Wengerd of Sugarcreek, Joe (Mary) Wengerd of Sarasota FL, Simon (Katie) Wengerd Jr. of Fredericksburg; two sisters Katie Yoder of Millersburg and Susan (Sam) Kurtz of Millersburg, a step-mother Susanna Stutzman of Millersburg. Preceded in death in addition to his parents, a daughter Mary Wengerd, a great granddaughter Angela Miller and a brother-in-law Andy Yoder.
The viewing will be held Saturday Oct. 16th from 2 to 4pm and from 6 to 8pm at the Canaan Mennonite Church, 1335 Flint Ridge Rd., Hopewell, Ohio. where funeral services will be held Sunday Oct 17th at 10:00am with David Mast officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery located next to the church.
