Billie Eugene Alexander age 86 of Zanesville passed away Sunday November 28, 2010 at North Hills. He was born in Crooksville on August 3, 1924 a son of the late Charles and Nellie Tharp Alexander. He retired in 1984 after 35 years of service with Columbia Cement; served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was involved in the invasions of Algiers (North Africa), Guam, Saipan (North Mariana Islands) and went through the Panama Canal three times. He enjoyed his family, carving wooden ducks, putting ship models together, singing in the choir and was a member of Coburn United Methodist Church.
Billie is survived by his wife Ruth Fauley Alexander; one son Joe Alexander (Pam) of Huntsville, AL; three grandchildren Shannon Nezbeth, Brandyn Ford and John Alexander; five great grandchildren Christian, Logan, Kenzie, Kaitlyn and Mitchell.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter Randi Alexander, one son David Alexander, daughter-in-law Elaine Alexander and one brother Jack Alexander.
Calling hours will be 5-7 P.M., Tuesday November 30, 2010 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. Military Rd. Zanesville, OH. Funeral services will be held 1P.M. Wednesday December 1, 2010 in the Snouffer Chapel with Dr. Dennis Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Crooksville Cemetery.
