Rodney Darrell Smith age 56 of Crooksville passed away Tuesday December 28, 2010 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Zanesville, OH on September 15, 1954 a son of the late Clarence Junior and Shirley McClelland Smith. He was employed by Tri-County Garage Doors. His passion in life was the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, enjoyed bowling, was a member of the NRA and enjoyed spending precious moments with all his friends and family and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife Johnna Nelson Smith; one son Juran Jason Smith of Zanesville; one step-son Terrance Hill of Crooksville; one brother Clarence “Monk” (Linda) Smith of Zanesville; four sisters Debbie Davis of Roseville, Sherry (Mark) Malcolm of Delaware, Cindy Smith of Logan and Minnie (Paul) Tipton of Roseville; one grandson Hylier Jason Smith; aunt Lena Caplinger of Zanesville; mother-in-law Virginia Nelson of Crooksville; two brothers-in-laws Chris (Mindi) Nelson of Crooksville and Philip Nelson of Reynoldsburg; numerous nieces and nephews who adored their uncle Rodney and his two best canine friends Simba and Buckeye, and his mouser Sadie.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one step-son Kevin Hill.
Visitation will be held on Thursday December 30, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 at The SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 33 MAIN ST. ROSEVILLE, OH. Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Friday December 31 at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church 146 N. Main St. Roseville with Rev. Jerry Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
