Walter L.Dalzell, 57, of Crooksville passed away unexpectedly at Good Samaritan Hospital, Friday, January 14, 2011. Walter was born in Zanesville Nov. 23, 1953 to the late Edward & Mildred Fischer Dalzell. He was a machinist for Southeastern Shafting.
Walter was a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, M&M Jaycees and organized their car show for more than 20 years; and elected Fair Board Director in 1986 with the Morgan County Agricultural Society. He was a York Township Trustee for one year, was in charge of the Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, President of Deavertown-York Alumni and worked with the Community Center in Deavertown, Neelyville Grange,was a Life Time Member and Honorary Member of the Morgan FFA,and Morgan High School Athletic Boosters. He missed only one game of basketball and football since 1970.
Walter is survived by his loving wife Brenda Rupe Dalzell, brother, Jim (Julie) Dalzell of Hamilton, Ohio; three nieces, Jennifer (Adam) Bishop, Roselle, Il. Jill and Jamie Dalzell of Hamilton,Ohio; his step-daughter Tara (Donald) Strader; two step-granddaughters, Sierra and Deanna Strader; several cousins and his beloved dog, J.D. Dalzell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Dalzell.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 and 1 hour prior to his funeral service, in the Jerusalem Lutheran Church on State Route 669/555. Funeral services will be 11:000 A.M., Tuesday, Jan. 18 also at the church and officiated by Rev. Al Laese and Rev. Dale Campbell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
