Richard J. Straker, 81, of Zanesville, passed away Monday evening February 7, 2011 at the Helen Purcell Home.
He was born May 6, 1929 in Zanesville the son of the late B. Robert and Marguerite B. Ackert Straker. Richard was a graduate of Staunton Military Academy in Virginia, attended Marietta College and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was owner and operator of Allied Machine Works, enjoyed spending time on his farm and boating on Buckeye Lake.
Richard is survived by his wife: June I. Heinze Straker, daughters: Sandra (Ronald) LaAsmar of Zanesville, Judith (Craig) Huffman of Howell, MI, Deborah (Jeffrey) Gilbertson of Wellington, CO and Melanie (Jeffrey) Coyle of Westerville, son: Richard J. (Drew) Straker II of Longwood, FL. 10 grandchildren, brothers: J.W. “Bill” (Mary Helen) Straker and Charles (Sue) Straker both of Zanesville.
Preceding him in death was a grandson: Mark LaAsmar, brother: Robert A. Straker and sister: Mary Lou Taylor.
Visitation for Richard will be 11:00 AM till time of service at 1:00 PM Friday February 11, 2011 at Bryan & Snider Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave. officiated by Rev. Tim Patton. Committal services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
