Daniel E. Gabriel, “Dan” “Gabe” age 59 of Worthington, OH passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday May 17, 2011, which was he and his wife’s 10th wedding anniversary, from a 21 month battle with lung cancer. Dan was surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Zanesville, OH on December 23, 1951 to L. Fern Robinson Gabriel and the late Merlin Gabriel. Dan was a 1969 Maysville High School graduate. Dan was employed by Linworth Lumber in Linworth, OH for the past 30 years, starting as yard foreman and most recently as Assistant manager, buyer and dispatcher. Prior to working at Linworth, Dan was employed with Big Bear Supermarket and as a general contractor.
Surviving are his wife Deborah Gabriel of Worthington; his mother Fern Robinson Gabriel; his granddaughter Kendra Danielle Helton of the home; his baby sister Lynn (Robert) Matthews of Zanesville; his brother Mike (Carol) Miller of Dresden; his stepdaughter Tonya (Jason) Merick and Tracie Workman; his nieces Pam (Chris) Hartman and Kelli Ross; his nephew Robert E. (Amanda) Matthews and his dog “Banjo”.
Dan got great joy spending time with his great nieces and nephews Bryce, Hannah, Gabriella, Nash Hartman, Cam and Madison Ross. He was looking forward to the birth of his next great niece or nephew Matthews due in July. Also surviving are his Uncles Bob (Juanita) Gabriel and James W. Ansel, great friends Dave(Barb) Justice, as well as many cousins, friends, and co-workers too numerous to mention.
He was preceded in death by his father Merlin Gabriel who passed away on November 6, 2007, his sister Pam Gabriel Miller who passed away May 15, 1971, his nephew Quinton Hartman, maternal grandparents Charles(Mary Gladys) Robinson, Paternal Grandparents Harold (Esther) Gabriel. Aunts and uncles Rose (Kenneth) Brookover, Martha (Wayne) Coffey, Arlene Ansel, Russell Gabriel and William Robinson.
Dan was very proud to be the former Governor of Moose Lodge #1427 in Worthington, a Lifetime Member of the NRA and the Fraternal order of Eagles. He loved his time spent with his brother Mike and friend Charlie Crippen hunting in the hills of West Virginia. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle and was a huge Ohio State fan.

Calling hours will be 4-7 pm on Friday May 20, 2011 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE.
