Janet L. Bowman, 82, of Zanesville, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born March 25, 1930, a daughter of the late Glen and Louise Lichtner Angles. She was a 1948 graduate of Zanesville High School and graduated from Bethesda’s School of Nursing in 1951 as a Registered Nurse. She worked as an RN in Dr.’s Booth and Dr. Mackall’s office before retiring in 1996. She was a 60 year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 485, a member of First Christian Church and was a volunteer at the Animal Shelter with the PAWS organization. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, sewing, traveling and playing cards.
Janet is survived by three sons, Jeffrey (Jody) Bowman of Coshocton, Timothy (Rebecca) Bowman of Zanesville and Thomas (Kris) Bowman of Newark; grandchildren, Mandy and Katie of Coshocton and Spencer and Samantha of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Bowman, whom she married August 29, 1950 and passed away August 6, 1979; and her only sibling, Barbara Cotterman.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 14, 2012 from 4-8 pm at the SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 W. MILITARY RD. ZANESVILLE, where Order of Eastern Star will hold services at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Aaron Phillips officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Robert E. Bowman, in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
