William Ransbottom “Bill” Brown, age 94 of Zanesville, died Saturday January 26, 2013 at Primrose Retirement Community. He was born January 14, 1919 in Roseville and was the son of the late Karl E. and Clare Ransbottom Brown.
Bill was a veteran of the Air Force during WW II and a graduate of the Ohio State University School of Pharmacy. He was the owner and operator of Bill Brown’s Pharmacy on Maple Ave. until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and was active in the Zanesville Art Center and the Pioneer and Historical Society of Muskingum. Bill also was an active volunteer and board member of several civic and community organizations following his retirement.
He is survived by his daughters; Susan and Kenneth Hammer of Mesa, AZ and Betsy and Andrew White of Biltmore Lake, N.C. Four grandsons: Nathan and Stephanie Hammer, Erik and Jamie Hammer, Benjamin and Alisa Hammer, and Stephen Mink. Five great grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret A. “Peggy” (Falconer) Brown, who died November 27, 2005 and a son, Stephen K. Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Wednesday January 30, 2013 at St. James Episcopal Church, 155 N. Sixth St. Zanesville, OH with Father Robert Willmann officiating. A luncheon and reception will be held immediately following the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Zanesville Museum of Art 620 Military Rd., Zanesville or the Pioneer and Historical Society of Muskingum County, 115 Jefferson St., Zanesville.
