Samuel R Tankersley, 76, of Thornville, died Friday, April 26 at the Pickering House.
He was born to the late Howard “Humpy” and Edith (Miller) Tankersley, April 28, 1936, in Imboden, VA. He was a jack of many trades: auto mechanic, truck driver, school bus driver and coal miner. Sam loved old cars, old westerns, and playing his “scratchies”.
Sam is survived by five children: Veronica Roe of Lancaster; Samuel Jr. (Jan), of Montello, WI; Michael (Carolyn) of Newark; Tracy (Melissa), of Bremen; Miranda (Kyle) Miller, of Thornville, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Ralph (Pat) of Rineyville, Ky and his sister Pauline (Sam) Davis of Fairmount, IN.
In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Joyce (Miller) and his brothers Charles “Cobb” and Larry Tankersley.
