Merl Barnes, 79, of Carrie Circle, Zanesville passed away at 5:10 am on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Cedar Hill Care Center.
Merl was born January 27, 1934,on the home farm in Chandlersville to the late Lewis and Ina Baughman Barnes.
He was retired from Racine Hydraulics and also worked at the Ohio Ferro Alloy in Philo,and a member of the Central Trinity United Methodist Church, and served his country in the Army.
He is a member of the Duncan Falls Cemetery Board, former Wayne Township Trustee, former member of the Duncan Falls/Philo Lions Club and is a member of the Anchor Lodge A & FM 283.
Surviving is his wife Donna Parks Barnes whom he married September 10, 1961.
His sons are Troy A. Barnes of Charlotte, N.C. and his twin sons are Brent (Renee) Barnes of Zanesville and Trent (Jolene) Barnes of Zanesville. He has 6 grandchildren Abby, Carrie, Brent, Zackary, Sydney, and Kalie.
His brothers are Harold A. Barnes of Chandlersville and Merl’s twin brother Earl J. Barnes of Zanesville.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his infant children Merl Jr. Barnes and Trini K. Barnes.
Friends may call at the Farus Funeral Home in Duncan Falls 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 on Monday and the funeral will be at Central Trinity United Methodist Church in Zanesville at 1 pm with the Dr Steven Fewell, Rev Thomas England, and Rev Charles Titko officiating and he will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery with full Military Honors by VFW Post 1058. Anchor Lodge will hold ritual services at 5:45 pm on Monday evening.
