Dorothy Pauline Hawthorne, 91 of Beckett House, New Concord, was called home to be with the Lord, surrounded by loved ones as she passed peacefully, at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday (December 3, 2013), at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, Ohio.
She was born September 18, 1922, near Otsego, Ohio, daughter of the late John Newton and Edna Pauline (Wells) Hawthorne. Pauline was a Christian and enjoyed life to its’ fullest. She was a retired homemaker and was a faithful member of Bloomfield United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, and was an avid reader of Christian books and Devotionals. The highlight of her week was attending Sunday school and Worship Services. Her Pastor, Tim Pollock, was so faithful to visit and to pray with her. She appreciated him so very much.
Also, she faithfully attended Beckett House’s Wednesday Maranatha Bible Church Bible Study, with Bro. Phil Walker as the teacher. She loved music, visiting with her friends and relatives, and going to special activities. Before moving to Beckett House in 2008, she enjoyed the ministry of going to visit, call, or send cards to friends and relatives to brighten their days. She was a blessing and inspiration to all who knew her. She was thankful for the long life and good health that the Lord had given to her and one could tell that by the smile on her face.
She enjoyed her childhood farm home near Otsego for many years, and then later, her apartment on Maple Avenue, New Concord, for 22 years, and Evergreen Village Apartment for six years before moving to the Beckett House. She made many friends wherever she lived.
Pauline is survived by her special friends, Ron and Jean Hinebaugh, her sister-in-law, Martha Jerman, nieces, Dianne Graham, Donna Mercer, and nephew, John Hawthorne. She had eight Great-nieces and nephews, and fifteen Great-Great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Pauline is preceded in death by her brother Ellis W. Hawthorne , Southern Pines, North Carolina, who passed away on September 9, 2013.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. , Friday, December 6th, at the Farus Funeral Home (formerly Mock Miller), 63 West Main Street, New Concord with the funeral service beginning at 1 pm, with Pastor Tim Pollock officiating.
