The judge in the OSU RB Maurice Clarett misdemeanor falsification case has removed himself from the bench. Franklin County Municipal Judge Steven B. Hayes, the son of former Ohio State coach Woody Hayes, didn't give a reason for leaving Thursday. In fact, he was adamant he would remain on the bench after Clarett's attorneys filed a motion for Hayes to be removed in September.
Clarett, suspended for the season by Ohio State, has pleaded innocent to misdemeanor falsification charges relating to an April police report. He faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
