That was quick.
Kevin Martin, held to a season-low 10 points in the Catamounts' previous game, scored 42 in WCU's 81-72 win against Elon Saturday.
Martin no longer leads the nation in scoring following his 2-of-11 outing against the College of Charleston. The Zanesville native now trails Keydren Clark (St. Peter's) and Bryant Matthews (Virginia Tech) on the nation's points per game list.
But Martin rebounded nicely against the Phoenix (4-10, 1-2). The 6-7 junior guard went 14-of-24 from the field and 13-for-20 from the free throw line. Martin also had six rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the Catamounts (8-5, 2-1 SoCon) victory.
Martin’s 42 points is his second highest mark this season. He scored 44 in a season opening loss at Georgia. Martin scored over 40 points for the third time in his blossoming career. His career-high is 46 points.
Martin and WCU return to action Tuesday night at Davidson (5-8, 1-2).
