Muskingum College earned a #1 seed heading into the NCAA Softball Championships... but they learned on Monday that they won't be hosting the regionals. Due to some Chicago-area teams not submitting requests to host, those teams were thrust into the Alma regional, and Muskingum was placed in the Salem, Virginia regional. By the way, the Lady Muskies will be playing on the same field as the DIII College World Series anyway, so going to Salem's not all that bad. Play starts Friday. Here are the seedings for the Salem regional.

1. Muskingum (38-5)
2. *Roanoke (32-10)
3. Emory (34-10)
4. Bethany (West Virginia) (28-13)
5. Averett (20-20)
6. Sewanee (University of the South) (19-19)
*Indicates host institution

On another note, OAC coaches voted Muskingum as having the coaching staff of the year. Head coach Donna Newberry is assisted on her staff by LeAnn Fonner and Jen Segner-Filtz.
