A record number of Muskingum softball players were named All-Americans Thursday.

At the annual All-America dinner on the eve of the D-III College Softball World Series in Salem, Virginia, four Muskies were named either first, second or third team All-America.

Sophomore pitcher Erica Hoyt received first team All-America laurels for the second consecutive season. Hoyt leads the nation in wins entering the World Series, 37. She also set a Muskingum and Ohio Athletic Conference record for strikeouts in a season.

Outfielder April Rader got second team All-America. The junior was also a first team All-Region selection.

Third Team All-America included designated player Nicole Blubaugh, the New Lexington grad who earned first team laurels last season. Also, third baseman Shauna Jellison received third team All-America status.

The Muskies play Wheaton College Friday at 4 p.m. in the first game of the D-III College Softball World Series. You can listen to all of the Muskies World Series games on WHIZ FM affiliate Z-102.5.
