So much for the General joining the Senator.
Bob Knight agreed to a contract extension with Texas Tech Wednesday, keeping the coach with 832 career wins in Lubbock through 2009.
Knight's name immediately surfaced as a possible replacement to Jim O'Brien, whom Ohio State fired Tuesday amid alleged recruiting violations.
Knight professed his love for Ohio State and the Buckeyes when Texas Tech played in Columbus last season. He graduated from OSU and played on the 1960 Buckeyes national championship team.
Knight needs 48 more victories to pass Dean Smith (879) as the winningest coach in Division I.
