Kevin Martin may not officially be a part of the NBA's pre-draft camp in Chicago.
But the Zanesville native is in the Windy City and may be really pleased that he made the trip.
NBADRAFT.NET reports that Martin worked out Thursday afternoon for 8-10 teams at the Gold Coast Multiplex: Sonics, Spurs, Lakers, Heat, Nuggets and Mavericks included. Reports from several websites concluded that Martin impressed scouts with his athleticism and certainly helped his draft stock.
The ZHS grad also drew comparisons to two NBA players: Detroit guard Richard Hamilton and Indiana sharpshooter Reggie Miller.
Martin, a 6-7 junior, declared for the NBA draft with a year of eligibility remaining at Western Carolina. The Zanesville native has not signed with an agent, thereby keeping his NCAA eligibility.
Martin must pull his name out of the NBA draft before June 17th to return to college. If he doesn't and a team does not select him, he can petition the NCAA - assuming he hasn't signed with an agent - to return to college up to 30 days after the draft.
DRAFTCITY.COM projects Martin to be drafted in the first round (24th overall) by Boston, who has three first-round selections. NBADRAFT.NET still has Martin going in the second round (35th overall) to Atlanta.
