Cleveland's hopes for a 5th all-star seemed dashed when Travis Hafner failed to win the online poll for the final AL All-Star spot.

Then destiny struck.

Boston's Curt Schilling needs to rest his sore ankle. Next on the list chosen by players, coaches and managers? Cleveland's Jake Westbrook.

The pitcher has the 4th-best ERA in the league. He'll join C.C. Sabathia as Indian starters in the game. Other members of the Cleveland tribe and the All-Star tribe include Ronnie Belliard, Matt Lawton and Victor Martinez. This is the first time in 9 years that a losing team has had 5 all-stars.

On the field...

Oakland (47-38) 16
Cleveland (41-45) 7
-Athletics answer a 5-run Indian 4th with a 7 run 6th to take and keep the lead... Erubiel Durazo hits a grand slam to lead that barrage... Hafner 4-4, HR, 4 RBI

Milwaukee (45-40) 5
Cincinnati (46-41) 0
-Ben Sheets shuts down and shuts out the Reds for 8 innings, striking out 8
