West Muskingum 17 11 20
Tri-Valley 25 25 25
Coach Leigh Ann Longaberger couldn't help but smile when asked if the eariler season loss to the Tornadoes motivated her squad in the rematch. It was a ridiculous question, consaidering it was the first time these group of Scotty seniors had lost a conference game since the seventh grade.
Tri-Valley gets their win over West in straight sets, thanks in no small part to a defensive realignment that occured after the four set loss to the Tornadoes eariler in the year. Moving Peyton Miller tot he middle to defend seemed to make all the difference. As effective as Dakota (back from injury) and Dylana McKenzie were in the win at Ankrum Gymnasium, they were a non-factor in the rematch, as the Lady Dawgs rolled from start to finish.
The loss for West Muskingum means that they are now tied with Tri-Valley atop the MVL with identical 14-1 records. Both teams have one game remaining on their MVL schedule, with Tri-Valley at John Glenn and West Muskingum hosting Sheridan.
Cambridge 4 Rosecrans 3
The Bishops finish their regular season campaign with a one goal loss, despite the efforts of Johnny MacLean who had two penalty kick goals. Chuck Windsor added a third, but Rosecrans could not overcome the Bobcats, who escape with a win. Rosecrans finishes their regular season with a 10-5-1 record.
West Muskingum 3 Philo 2
The Tornadoes wrap up the regular season with a win, thanks to two goals off the foot of Zack Kimble and one from Ammon Lalusa. Philo netted two penalty kicks off the foot of Slade Moore in the second half, but could not find the equalizer late. The win for West gives the Torandoes and Electrics identical 5-4-1 MVL records, good enough for third place tie in the league.
Dover 2 Zanesville 2
The second Dover-Zanesville battle in less than a week at Sulsberger field ends in a tie. Zanesville bookended the scoring with two Payton Norris goals, with Doug Welker assisting on both of the scores. Dover scored their two goals withing two minutes of each other to earn the tie. Blue Devils move to 8-5-1 on the season.
