High School Boys Basketball:
John Glenn 40 Dover 43 OT
Another tough loss for the Muskies at the hands of the Tornadoes. John Glenn had a six point lead at halftime, but were outscored 13-5 in the third quarter, heading into the final frame down two points. A late charge led by Heath Dodson was capped off when Tre Blevins hit a shot with less than ten seconds to play to tie the game at 30. Blevins missed the free throw, and the game went to overtime.
Dover had just one field goal in the extra frame, the three pointer off the hands of Mason Mamarella (13pts) and 10/12 from the free throw stripe was enough to preserve the win, despite a flurry of threes from Dodson. Heath had 3 three pointers with less than a minute to play in the game to give John Glenn a chance, instead the Muskies lose their third game to Dover by less than four points in the last three seasons.
Maysville 57 Sheridan 65
In a battle of two of the MVL's elite, the Generals won the rematch by eight points. After falling behind 17-5 after the first frame, Sheridan clawed back to within seven at the half 31-24. The big quarter was the third, when the Generals outscored the Panthers 19-7 to take a six point lead at 43-37. Maysville got as close as two, but Sheridan used a 10-0 run late in the fourth and never looked back. The win moves Sheridan into a tie for second with Maysville in the MVL standings, two games back of John Glenn. Both teams had three players in double figures with Bryce Sidwell of the Panthers leading all scorers with 17 points. The Generals were led by Tyler Fisher with 13 points.
