Correction: New Albany's mascot is an Eagle, not a Golden Bear.

The official start of high school football across the state is less than two weeks away, but the Rosecrans Bishops are looking for a permanent head coach. Jay Campbell resigned from his post earlier this month for an opportunity at New Albany.

Zanesville grad and Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin held his sixth annual basketball camp this week at Winland Gymnasium. The camp wrapped up on Thursday, but it won't be the only camp the Minnesota star holds this month.

The Zanesville Junior Pioneers continued an impressive winning streak on Thursday, routing the Senior Pioneers 7-0 at Gant Stadium. The Juniors have now won 25 games in a row and are 26-1 on the summer. They begin tournament play Saturday at noon back at Gant.

The 2011 MSU graduate spent the last two years serving as A.D. at Fairfield Christian. We caught up with Bates to talk about the move back to his home county.

 Zanesville's Jim Spargrove captured his sixth Zanesville Seniors' Classic championship on Wednesday, firing an even par 72 and finishing the 36-hole tournament at one-under par 143. His 10-stroke margin of victory is the largest margin in the 51-year history of the tournament.

The Zanesville Senior Classic tee'd off at Zanesville Country Club on Tuesday morning. Defending champion Jim Spargrove off to a nice start with an opening round 71. He leads by three over Al Christopher, Greg Merritt and Mike Wren. The tournament wraps up tomorrow morning.
