Rosecrans boys soccer fell to Grandview Heights, 2-1 (7-6), in a shootout to put an end to the Bishops' season. Logan McLaughlin scored the first goal of the game for Rosecrans.

On the gridiron, the injury-plagued Bishops lost to Fort Frye, 35-6. The game will be broadcast in its entirety on WHIZ Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Seventeen unanswered points helped propel Licking Valley (3-1, 8-2) past Granville (3-1, 8-2) in Licking County League action and clinch a playoff spot for the Panthers.

The win also gave Valley a share of the LCL title.

Lane Dailey scored two goals and Logan McLaughlin and Tucker Zemba each found the net once as Bishop Rosecrans downed Zane Trace, 4-0, to advance to the regional final. This was the first regional win for the Bishops since 1996.

Rosecrans is set to take on Grandview Heights Saturday at noon at Bloom Carroll High School. The Bobcats edged Worthington Christian in a shootout to earn a 2-1 win.

The John Glenn Girl's Soccer team saw their season come to an end Tuesday night. 

Hillsboro defeated John Glenn 2-1 to end the Muskies regional run. The lone Muskies goal came with just minutes to go in the second half from John Glenn's Abby Wagner. Hillsboro will now move on to the regional finals where they'll face Granville. 

Granville defeated St. Francis DeSales 3-2. The Blue Aces game with Hillsboro is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday.

The Rosecrans boys and girls both dominated on the soccer field today, winning their respective district titles by a combined score of 13-2. The Lady Bishops blanked Ironton St. Joseph, 7-0, behind four first-half goals while the Bishops downed Wheelersburg, 5-2, with Logan McLaughlin and Lane Dailey each netting a pair.

Just two months from the start of a new season, a John Glenn High School coach is grieving the loss of a former basketball player killed in a Coshocton County crash.

Clay Sturtz, 18, of Coshocton died Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 83 near Otsego.

The former basketball captain, who graduated last year, led the team to the regional semifinals in 2014.

The battle for the MVL title will take place Friday night as Tri-Valley hosts Maysville at Jack Anderson Stadium. The Panthers are 8-0 and 6th in the state in Division IV while the Scotties are 8-0 and 5th in the state in Division III. 

The game will be broadcast on WHIZ Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Highlights will also be featured on "Friday Night Blitz."
