In wrestling, like most sports, sometimes the numbers speak for themselves.

Let's try 156 and 12.

That's the career record for John Glenn senior Todd Neptune since he started wrestling in seventh grade, even after sitting out his sophomore season.

His 42 wins as a freshman, set a school record and he's well on his way to breaking that mark shortly.

As a senior at West Muskingum High School, Cody Stiverson ran his way into the record books and the Tornadoes to an MVL Championship.

Next season the MVL Player of the Year will look to do the same in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

A leader during his playing days at Zanesville High School, Kyle Witucky has done the same during his four-year career at the College of Wooster.

The nation has taken notice.

As a four-year starter at point guard for the Division III Scots, Witucky has been named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation's collegiate top point guard.

For over 50 years the Muskingum Valley Old Timers Association has been a major player in the continuing development in local Babe Ruth baseball.

The opportunties continue to grow.

The Old Timers have received word that Zanesville will be given an automatic bid into the upcoming 16-18 year old Babe Ruth World Series to be held at Newark's Don Edwards Park, August 11-18, 2006.

The tournament trail is underway for area girls basketball teams, with only one week left in the regular season.

Sunday afternoon at the Holiday Inn of Zanesville, the tournament draw was held for the Division II Sectional Tournament at Zanesville High School (Feb. 13-24).

Ten teams are in the tournament, which was split into an upper and lower bracket.

Cambridge grad Brandon Todd continues his stellar inaugural season with Division III Muskingum.

The Ohio Athletic Conference names Todd its conference player of the week, after scoring 26 points in Muskingum's win over Wilmington Wednesday. Against the Quakers Todd shot 53 percent (9-of-17) from the field, dished out eight assists and pulled down five rebounds.
