At the Division II Sectional Final at Philo, Zanesville overcomes a 2-0 2nd half deficit to capture its third straight Sectional championship, 3-2 over the Raiders.

Senior Larry Nolan scores the game-winning goal with 12:43 to play in overtime. Tony Dellamaggiore gives Morgan a 1-0 lead at the half, scoring with 16:30 to play in the first half.

At the Division II Sectional Tournament in Warsaw, the Black Bears shoot past the Tornadoes with penalty kicks deciding the final outcome. After a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation, and two overtime periods without a goal, River View wins in the third overtime making four penalty kicks. 30-23, 30-32, 27-30, 30-27, 15-10

In New Concord, the Purple Raiders win for only the second time in OAC play, upsetting the third place Muskies in front of a large crowd at the Recreation Center.

Muskingum has now lost back-to-back conference matches, also falling to Ohio Northern saturday in three games. The Muskies are 3-3 in the OAC and Mount Union is 2-5.

In the opening round of the Division II Sectional Volleyball Tournament at River View, the Muskies fall in five games ending their season at 12-11. When you look back at Saturday's win over Michigan State, one play comes to mind.

Ohio State blocked a field goal at the end of the second quarter. Ashton Youboty returned it for a touchdown, cutting the Spartans' lead to three.

WHIZ's Evans Boston was there, and says that one play made the difference for the Buckeyes between winning and losing.

Rosecrans finished second in the state Division 3 tournament!

The Bishops missed the state title by three strokes.

The Bishops were led by a freshman. Josh Agin shot a two-day total of 160, third best individually. Senior Nick Bryan finished 11th overall.

Lima Central Catholic won the event with a score of 668. Rosecrans finished with 671.

In Division 2, West M's Derek Brown finished 3rd overall, shooting a two day total of 154.

The Ceramics led 7-0 at halftime, but the Generals rumbled back to win the game.

Nathan Van Meter led the Ceramics with 143 total yards, and passed for the game's only touchdown.

Steve McVey scored both touchdowns for the Generals. McVey had 26 carries for 108 yards.

Crooksville is now 3-5 on the season. With the win, Sheridan improves to 6-2.

At Sulsberger Stadium for their final regular season game, Zanesville end in a 1-1 tie with its Licking County rival Newark. Freshman Hank Ring scores Zanesville's only goal in the first half. The Blue Devils outshot the Wildcats 18-5. Zanesville opens tournament play Monday, Oct. 17 at Philo.

25-22, 8-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-12

In New Concord, Sheridan earns a piece of second place in the MVL by beating John Glenn in five games in the final game of the regular season. Both the Muskies and Generals conclude the MVL schedule with six league losses. Two-time league champion Tri-Valley was a perfect 16-0 this season.

Austin Carney is the top runner on the MVL's best cross-country team.

Carney won the MVL Championship Saturday, leading Tri-Valley to an undefeated season.
