Newark Catholic has been on top before. Quite often actually.

Four state championhips in five years has the Green Wave in a league of their own, trying to make it back-to-back division four state crowns begininng Thursday.

After a 2-4 start to the season, it was hard to get an early gauge on how good this year's team may be, but after putting togerher another strong tournament run there's no question the green machine is well oiled and confident in their chances....

Last Month Caroline Daugherty thought her decision to step down as River View girl's head basketball coach was the right one.

She talked it over with her family and came to the conclusion that it was time to "just be mom" and not coach.

It wasn't until Daugherty informed the team of her intentions that she realized she couldn't walk away.

Tuesday, at a special school board meeting, Daugherty was given a one-year supplemental contract to return for her fifth...

Zanesville was a young team in 2007, yet the Blue Devils only needed two seniors to carry them to a third straight District Championship.

Alex Cultice and Cory Swope were among the headliners of the All-East District Teams released over the weekend.

In Division II Cultice and Swope were both tabbed to the All-East District first team. Cultice was also named the D-II Player of the Year, while Zanesville head coach Dave Balo was the Coach of the Year.

Saturday afternoon Meadowbrook High School hosted one of the four division two regional finals.

Many of our local athletes who qualified fourth or high in their events advanced to the state meet next weekend.

It only took one season for Chad Grandstaff to lead the Danville Blue Devils to the state playoffs. In 2007, he'll try to duplicate the feat with the Zanesville Blue Devils.

At a Special Board of Education meeting Thursday, the Zanesville City School board approved the hiring of Grandstaff as head football coach and Special Education teacher.

He becomes Zanesville's third head coach in five years, replacing the departed Dave Everson who was let go May 11th. Grandstaff...

Freshman pitcher Paige Young was nearly perfect in the Bobcats first Regional tournament game in 30 years. In fact, Circleville had to go out of its way to beat her.
